ACEC-NB is pleased to present the 2021 Young Professionals Award to Sigourney Stott, P.Eng., CEM, Associate (right), Tim Ryan, ACEC-NB President (left)

Sigourney started as a co-op student with MCW Maricor and is now an Associate and Mechanical Engineer based in our Moncton office, working with energy performance and chasing carbon reduction. She generates energy studies, option analysis reports and carbon neutral studies for clients seeking guidance in their HVAC renewal projects. Sigourney remains heavily involved throughout the design and construction administration phases of these projects.

As former CaGBC Atlantic Chapter board member, Sigourney also assists with workshop facilitations through the CaGBC and her work with numerous carbon neutral studies. Being fully bilingual (English/French), Sigourney is able to run workshops and technical meetings in the client’s language of choice. Her goal is and always has been, to make a tangible positive impact on the community.

Engineering was a natural career choice for Siggy. She was accepted as a co-op student with MCW Maricor her last semester in grade 12 and has never looked back. Throughout her studies at Université de Moncton, MCW offered her summer employment. This is where she started learning the industry and after 5 years as a student and now 7 years into her career, she still feels motivated to keep learning and offer quality work to our clients.

Sigourney not only understands the role of consultants in the engineering industry, but she strives to become proficient and pass knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable technologies into her projects and onto her clients. Sigourney leads MCW’s nation-wide Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Low-Carbon Design Best Practices.

Volunteer:
Sigourney’s dedication to the sport of volleyball is ingrained as she competed in the U-Sports league for Universite de Moncton throughout her five (5) year bachelor degree. Sigourney has used this knowledge of the game to coach several volleyball teams ranging in caliber from New Brunswick’s Elite Program to mini-volleyball (ages 5 – 10) to middle school boys. Her dedication to community also includes volunteer work through the APEGNB Moncton Branch, judging grade school science fairs and offering end of year motivational speeches for her middle school’s graduating class (Beaverbrook Middle School).
